No one just a accident isn’t the first wont be the last.
The spill stems from the call by BP to ignore the rubber in the drill mud and push forward with capping the well despite the repeated test failures of the blow back preventor.
In my profession, we have safety regiments pounded out over many years and several accidents. Circumventing the lessons of accidents is a judgment call that plays with the lives of workers and a companies financial stability.
This well was know to have large bursts of gas… by everyone on the rig. The safety measures were still circumvented by pushing forward with removal of the mud rather than pulling the well apart and figuring why the valve wasn’t working. After all, having the Deep Water Horizon sitting on top of that well and blocking a production rig from taking over would cost over a million a day… cost-benefit didn’t work out on this one.
You can go on about contingency plans, but that is the fault of two – the government for not requiring it and BP for not wanting to consider it and be prepared for responders. I have to have at least 3 site-specific plans when I get into the field. BP felt it didn’t need the catastrophic version.
Fix the problem not the blame.
The problem is we did not have any contingency plans for this type of disaster, so in the future we need one.
BP.
BP and government officials for lack of proper oversight and contingency planning.
Someone should go to jail over lack of oversight and cronyism.
No one, why? it was a accident! i mean how can you blame anyone for a accident!
the EPA for making so many regulations.
Bush and BP
Deregulation is the G0P way and it’s killing us.
FIRST BP
Second republican party! Cheney Bush etc
I blame both 0bama and BP. BP for not operating a safer operation, and 0bama for knowingly let BP to have a “free pass” on safety regulations (and even gave them a safety award about a month prior to this), as well as sitting back for 37 days before stepping up and saying “the buck stops here”.
EDIT: Deregulation?? Your boy 0bama had (yes HAD) a majority senate and congress, he had the power to re-regulate but chose not to. Get your head out of the sand.
left wingers
I blame the broken pipe. Now….as to who and how the pipe got broke is something I would really like the truth to.
As to the clean up I blame Obama and his 45 days of trying to find his ass on this one. Now he’s making all these trips to the coast and scowling….how pathetic is that? What he needs to do is remove red tape and provide the full weight of the federal government to getting it cleaned up. Not stopping progress with useless photo ops and false outrage.
For the past thirteen months Barack has been playing socialist money redistribution games and not paying attention to the very attacks on this nation that he should be concentrating on. Had he been doing the real work of the American people and not paying off his political cronies he would have seen that this and other disasters (like the Christmas day bomber) were or should have been his number one responsibility.
The BOBO is responsible…President Barack Obama.
Oceana
I blame me
I want my house at 78 degress in winter, 72 degress in summer
I dont mind getting 18 miles a gallon
I recycle nothing and throw my beer cans out the window
I drive to my mailbox rather than walk, approx 30 yards
conservation is for people who cannt afford to leave their lights on 24/7
How many of you are just like me ?
I blame Obama for allowing offshore drilling in the first place, and I blame BP for being absolute idiots on drilling at that depth without a plan for disaster.
Obama, He already said the “buck” stops with him.
So it is his cross to carry
BP, the government, and News Media. I could tell you why, but it would do no good, as you are easily brain fed. Its easy to brain feed someone who is unwilling to take the time to do it on their own. Its soooo much easier to just flip on the TV and watch. Lets just say, you aren’t in control and never will be.
They all own you, right down to your property–that they can take away anytime they want.
Blame?Too many things all happened at once to really place “blame” on someone here.is it the fault of the government for not enforcing their own regulations?Yes,they simply ignored their own rules. Is it the fault of the companies involved(there are more than just BP) for not having a plan in place for just this kind of disaster?Yes,in every business it there is a knee jerk reaction AFTER a work related injury/death/accident.What about those workers and technicians on the rig itself? They had the final responsibility to make sure that everything was in working order and stop the job if it wasn’t.Some of them failed to do so and it cost them their lives.Do they share some of the “blame”?Unfortunately, yes they do.At least one worker waited for his supervisor to tell him to close a valve that could have prevented the explosion. And what about the manufacturers of the equipment used.If there was any weakness in the drilling equipment, what is their responsibility in all this? Was it possible to override any safety mechanisms?
No single person or entity is to blame, like I said.Too many bad things all happened at once and it really became a matter of time before something like this happened.
i would like to hear from the workers but they are silent
Bush and Chaney and the oil company. They busted that pipe on purpose just to raise gas prices. They will destroy the world just to put some extra $ in their pockets.
