Why didn’t BP try the “top kill” heavy mud injection to begin with to plug the oil well?

Question by flashy d: Why didn’t BP try the “top kill” heavy mud injection to begin with to plug the oil well?
Why wouldn’t you try the “top kill” to begin with? What is up with trying the concrete box first and why take this long? If this top kill works the whole oil spill could have been stopped in a week or two to begin with. Blame Obama!
So what if they have smaller leaks? That means less oil getting into the gulf than one big leak. It would look like the concrete box would work better sitting over small leaks than one big leak if it were to work at all.
Why would I inform them weeks ago of using the “top kill” method? Isn’t that why Obama is commander in chief?
If the “top kill” method works then heads need to roll. Isn’t the most fundamental principle of plugging a well of any kind to simple inject it with mud and cement?
doesn’t injecting something like mud or cement into the well and/or using explosives to make the oil well implode on itself come to mind as the first thing to try? it pretty sad that they still haven’t plugged it and basically let oil destroy so many fragile ecological habitats.
