It doesnt take a genius to figure out that all that is needed is a large hose clamped to the end of a clean flush pipe?
5000′ feet down is not an excuse.. If they can make connections to do a top kill then installing a large hose over pipe with a coupling should be simple to do..

Your example sux! They are not trying to screw anything on. A better example would be go outside and try to slip a larger hose over a small hose gushing water.. ITs easily done!
