  1. It looks like it would be very inefficient because it’s too close to the ground and there are equally tall buildings nearby that would create turbulence.

  2. @katakanadian: This cynic’s jaundiced eye judged its main purpose as being political with generation efficiency not being a top consideration. (二の次)

    Define "nearby." This photo was taken with an 18x lens, which flattens distances.

    FWIW, the blades were turning, but image stabilization froze the shot.

  3. I’ll admit I’m not an expert on windmills but from criticisms (by environmentalists) of windpower I’ve read, it seems virtually any urban windmill won’t be very efficient due to turbulence. That’s why you don’t see windfarms peeking out of forests. I didn’t know about the 18x zoom but that just makes it more obvious that some of those buildings in the background are probably taller than the turbine.

    Maybe this pic belongs in the pork barrel if it’s publicly funded.
