  1. Commercial “wood floor” cleaners tend to damage the coating on the wood, either making them hazy or peeling them away from the flooring, so avoid using them at all costs. This includes but is not limited to mop n glo, swiffer, murphy’s oil soap, mr. clean, bleach, etc. They leave a nasty film that is either sticky or greasy that is near impossible to clean away. Avoid using cleansers with ammonia, especially if you have pets, as this is the main ingredient in their urine that tells them to come back to that spot and then they will be scenting your home. The best thing for all flooring is to get a 32 ounce sprayer from the garden or cleaning aisle, fill with 1/2 cup white vinegar and top off with water, then spray as you go mop. This prevents damaging the floors by over wetting them with a wet mop. This will effectively clean, disinfect and deodorize your flooring while leaving a streak free shine. I use it from my marble to my tile to my wood floors. It avoids using harsh chemicals, is environmentally and family/pet safe, takes just a few minutes to dry and then the smell is gone. You can use white vinegar to kill to break down the urine enzymes that cause that nasty smell when your pets have an accident as well.

It may be a build up of polish, like Klear or Astonish.
Try an ammonia/water mix to mop it all off. Say 1 part bleach to 10 water?
The ammonia solution is what Johnson & Johnson, Lever Brothers, Unilever and Proctor & Gamble suggest.
Still, MJ knows best……….
