  2. Admiral Thad Allen on MAY 15th said the failed blow out preventer indicated that it had worked partially and was limiting flow from the well to some degree. He said that oil was flowing into the device at 8,000 to 9,000 psi and flowing out into the Gulf at around 2,650 psi.
    … That sounds like packing a fire hydrant, except they hold typically 50psi. The well pipe down there has 180x that much pressure pushing up and out. Imagine that?
