The growing oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is threatening to become the worst US environmental disaster in decades. According to the US government, more than six million litres of oil have poured into the sea since April 20 when the Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded and then sank. Al Jazeera’s Tom Ackerman reports from Venice Lousiana as US coastal communities brace for the full impact of the spill.

@duryeajr1 Just wanted to point out that the people hired to work on the oil rig were Americans. BP has an American office, their headquarters are indeed in the UK, but who runs the rig? The American arm. So it looks like the Americans messed up somewhere. Although nobody seems to be bothered about those who died. Why?

I see people fishing in my local sewage drain everyday. I don’t think it’s a good idea but it appears that it is not killing them. Think about when people witness a car accident. Everyone could have conflicting stories due to their point-of-view. The person standing closest to the accident doesn’t necessarily have the best perspective. You may want to think about the amount of oil that is flowing into the ocean and all the chemicals being used. Does it make it right because YOU don’t see it?
jesus christ, stop talkin about the oil spill im from louisiana and it makes me so sick and tired from hearing about it, i do more hearing then i do seeing, and i was @ the beach in gulfport mississippi the other day ago, there was people out in the water with there family there dogs, no oil on the beaches, nothing, all this is, is people making up stuff that most likely isnt true.
