  1. no your fine man people can eat raw salmon

    its ok really

i eat raw salmon you can order raw salmon its really ok

  2. depends where the salmon is from. however, as long as you always cook with the olive oil, it should be fine, as the heat will kill the bacteria. but if you are freaking out, just dump it out and buy more, so you don’t feel sketchy every time you use the oil in the future.

  3. I think you should throw the olive oil out. Fish have a lot of bacteria, some of them, harmful. Many harmful bacteria can grown in anerobic (without air or water) conditions.

  4. The olive oil is still safe for cooking, heating the oil will kill any bacteria.

But yes, as far as raw uses of the oil goes, I wouldn’t.

Keep the oil in as cool a place as possible so bacteria multiplies more slowly and if anything starts growing in it, toss it.

People talking about eating raw salmon don’t know what they’re talking about. They’re eating sushi grade raw salmon. All fish has some bacteria on it. Because of how bacteria multiplies there’s a big difference in how much bacteria will be on a very fresh piece of fish vs one that’s been out for awhile – who knows how long it was out before it was frozen in the factory. Here’s what I know for sure, it was out too long to be called sushi grade – otherwise it would have been sold as sushi grade fish for a much higher price.

  5. If your brush has no metal you can stick it in the microwave for a bit and that will kill anything nasty. Works on sponges too.

  6. Make it a point of using the olive oil for cooking, but not for salad dressing. To be extra cautious bring the olive oil above the boiling point of water without burning it, wash out the container with soap and warm water and re-bottle.

If you serve food to anyone with an impaired immune system throw it out.

Next time just pour the oil on the fillets and use your hands to spread it.

How much bacteria is on raw salmon?

Question by Fiasco: How much bacteria is on raw salmon?
I’m an idiot.

I had a bottle of olive oil and a brush. I wanted to brush the olive oil on some raw salmon fillets before I put them in the oven. Instead of pouring out the olive oil, I dipped a clean brush in the bottle. Then, like an idiot, after brushing on top of the raw salmon, I put the brush back in the bottle…. Do you think the bottle of oilive is ruined now?

The salmon had just gotten done thawing in the refrigerator.
