New manager named to oversee hydroelectric dams
SALT LAKE CITY — Jane Blair has been selected by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation to serve as the new manager for the power office in Salt Lake City, which oversees the operation and maintenance of critical hydroelectric power generation facilities in four states, including Utah.

Brazil gives OK for massive hydroelectric dam
A Brazilian environmental agency has given approval for initial work to begin on a massive hydroelectric dam planned for the heart of the Amazon jungle. But several legal and environmental hurdles must still be cleared if the Belo Monte dam is to be completed by the government’s target date of 2015.
