LEED = Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, which is a rating system developed by the US Green Building council: http://www.usgbc.org/DisplayPage.aspx?CategoryID=19
Basically it is a point system to get a structure certified as a green/sustainable building. There are different levels of certification (certified, silver, gold and platinum) and each level has X amount of point attributed to it.
