To not use cars that require gasoline (oil). We don’t wanna depend on oil too much since we’re going to run out in the next 20-40 years.

We shouldn’t.
Hydrogen needs to be stored at very high pressure in order to get enough energy in a small volume. Thats not practical in the real world. The best fuel for practical everyday use is the hydrocarbons we now use. The issue of polution can be fixed by using good engineering not by using alternative fuel.
