  1. yes it is, you can buy a device that tells you when non peek hours are and when to use the cheaper electric

  2. It depends on your electricity provider. Some power companies do this, some don’t. You can probably contact your power company and they will tell you their rates and when the peak hours occur.

  3. there is a device that you have to obtain from the electric company you plaace it on high demand appliances like a clother dreyer large air conditioners and hot water heaters.. this device only lets you operate those appliances when the demand is not high.. the electric company give a small discount for using them other wise the rates for electrric in the summer months is a few cents highter.. in new jersey atlantic city elec.

  4. Depends on your company. Each company has a different rate structure. Some might give a discount during non-peak hours.

  5. It’s true where I live. Mon-Fri, between certain hours is considered peak usage and you pay more for electricity than you do outside of those hours and on weekends and holidays.

Are there weekday rates and weekend rates when using electricity in your home?

Someone posted a question on the message board asking how to conserve and be more efficent in the use of their washing machine at home… several people responded saying to use it only during non peak hours (early morning and weekend mornings) due to businesses being closed and the rates are cheaper… regarding the rates being cheaper – is this true?
If you do have peak rates can you indicate where you live and what company you have? I live in Virginia (Northern) and have Dominion Virginia Power.
