The world needs a new source of energy, an unspillable source.

  1. t = 5400 s

    0.452 x 5400 = 2440.8 coulombs

    2440.8 / 96500 =0.0253 Faradays

    in molten calcium chloride , the cathode reaction is
    Ca2+ + 2e- >> Ca

    which states that for every 2 faradays of electricity used up , one mole Ca forms.

    0.0253 faradays ( 1 moles Ca / 2 faradays ) = 0.0126 moles

    Mass = 0.0126 mol x 40.078 g/mol= 0.507 g

How much Ca will be produced in an electrolytic cell of molten CaCl2 if a current of 0.452A is passed…?

through the cell for 1.5 hours?

please show me the steps, i cant figure out how to solve it and it will be on my final exam =S
