  1. It was the Democrat-controlled Congress that made the ridiculous increase to the ethanol subsidies.

    BTW – notice how the two Democratic candidates support the subsidy while the Republican candidate does not?

  2. It was the Democrats in conjunction with the tree huggers thinking that they were investing in “renewable energy” sources. Unfortunately it’s made refining and transporting gasoline more expensive, driven up corn and grain prices, decreased food supplies for the world, and of course driven up food prices. These subsidies need to be ended right now if not sooner.

  3. I think your answer is actually in your question. BUSH is not a free market republican. Neither is Mccain, or Huckabee. Even the Republicans have started holding on to liberal ideas of govt. intervention in capital markets. Maybe your questions should be something like “why are there no free-market republicans anymore?”

Why do free-market Republicans subsidize biofuel, instead of allowing the market to work?

Now regular food prices are going through the roof! Food corn has doubles in price because of their market mangling.

He’s been President for 8 years and we still have these subsidies.. WHY????
